Adult and juvenile Ospreys

An area of open mangroves near Tanji was superb for resting Ospreys. We found that the adults and juveniles often sat in seperate groups, the juveniles sitting 2-300 meters away in another area of mangroves. It was almost like having a swimming pool for adults and a smaller one for children. The adults would 'chip' when a juv flew over them but usually wouldn't if it was an adult coming into land. However, we did sometimes see Juveniles sitting with adults. The juveniles must be very relieved once the adults have headed north in the spring, leaving them to sit wherever they want to. The above juvenile male is Scottish LL.
